Jerald Peter

Jerald Earl Peter, born on August 19, 1937, in Ubly, Michigan, ascended peacefully to his Heavenly Father on August 22, 2025, at the age of 88 in Pontiac, Michigan.

Jerald was the beloved husband of Esther L. Peter for 65 years until her passing. Together they built a life grounded in faith and family, raising three cherished children: Jeanne Couture, Janet (Leif) Olafsson, and Jerald (Mary) Peter Jr. He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Adam Couture, Jared Olafsson, Jacob Olafsson, Amber Peter, Tyler Peter, Kellen Peter, and Ethan Peter. His legacy continues through two great-grandchildren who brought him great delight.

Born to Milton and Betsy Peter, Jerald was one of nine siblings whose companionship he deeply valued throughout his life: John Peter, Gene Peter, Tom Peter, Patricia Glassbrook, Gayle Barnett, James Peter, Donald Peter, and Terri Ross.

From an early age, Jerald's life was centered around his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. A devoted member of Waterford Community Church for many years, he served faithfully as a board member and choir singer. He gave generously of his time and resources to support the church's ministries and its members. His heart for service extended far beyond the church walls-he spent two years as a missionary in Irian Jaya and participated in additional short-term mission trips to places such as Russia. Locally, he was active in prison ministry work where he shared the gospel with inmates across area jails and prisons.

Jerald's generosity knew no bounds. He was always eager to help those in need both spiritually and materially. Daily scripture reading and prayer were cornerstones of his life-practices that reflected his deep commitment to interceding for others. In his final year, he found spiritual nourishment at Lakecrest Baptist Church where he worshiped alongside his brother Gene and grandson Jacob.

Jerald Earl Peter leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, compassion, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Waterford Community Church. A Memorial Service will be held on August 30, 2025, at 01:00 PM at Waterford Community Church 3900 Airport Rd
