Ingrid lived a beautiful fulfilled life, touching countless people who were blessed to know her. She peacefully passed from this life on Monday, May 26, 2025, with her loving family at her side.
Ingrid was born July 12, 1958 to Harry and Dorothy Curtis. She grew up in Haslett, MI, attended Barber College in Lansing, and worked as a barber in the Lansing area for several years. In the early 1990's she moved to Petoskey, MI where, on her own, she opened "Ingrid's Family Barber Shop". Over the next 30 years she provided 'the best haircut in town', always greeting clients with her bright and welcoming smile. Many enjoyed genuine conversations and became friends with lasting connections. In 2022 Ingrid retired and moved back downstate to be close to family and lifelong friends.
Ingrid enjoyed her Up North Community, walking the peaceful lakeshore with her beloved puppy Havana, seeing gorgeous sunsets, and star filled skies. She was a traveler, going so far as Belgium to visit her brother, Hawaii where she saw a volcano eruption, and spontaneous road trips anywhere. She loved exploring, discovering new places, was never afraid to try anything new. Keeping active was important to her. She enjoyed biking, hiking, boating, kayaking and cross country skiing. Her love of animals led her to volunteering at the Capital Area Humane Society where she looked forward to wagging tails greeting her.
Ingrid was kind, selfless, bubbly, rarely without a smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eye. She was joyful, compassionate, always considerate of others. At no time was she happier than when she was surrounded by her family. She was extremely close to her siblings, and a true gift to her parents. She was proud to be God-Mother to her niece Malorie, and equally took great pride and pleasure in all of her nieces and nephews. Family gatherings, holidays and vacations, Ingrid was the epitome of "Fun-Aunt". They in turn enriched her life in so many ways. Her annual trip to Florida with sisters, cousins and others was an enriching, loving crazy tradition she treasured. (We were the fun table at any get together.)
Ingrid leaves her siblings to treasure her memory, Bruce (Joanna) Curtis of Williamston, Heidi (Patrick) Dalton of Haslett, Craig (Julie Johnson) Curtis of Holt, and Donald (Monia) Curtis of Delaware. Beloved nieces and nephews, Carrie, Hannah (Dimitri), Malorie, Rachael (Rob), Shane, Drew, Logan (Tiffany), Arlene, Maxinne (Simone). Ingrid also had many "Step-Family" members whom she adored. Ingrid was pre-deceased by her parents, and her sister-in-law, Brenda Curtis.
Ingrid will always be remembered by the countless amazing friends that came into her life whom she treasured, especially Mary and Art Guzowski, Lori Schray and her best friend Paul Dowsett.
A Celebration of Ingrids Life, for Family and Friends to share and enjoy memories will be held at One North, 1310 Abbot Rd., East Lansing, MI on Saturday June 14, 2025 from 2:00pm, until 4:00pm. Lunch and beverages will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, The National Cancer Institute, or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
