Ingrid Leona Ruth Dieckmann Whitlock
Aug 24, 1936- 2025 April 8, 2025
Ingrid passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug 24th, 1936, in Stettin Germany to Albert Friedrich Emil Dieckmann and Berta Johanna Luise Ebert. Ingrid and her parents immigrated to the United States and landed in New York on July 24th, 1953. Being members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they came to Salt Lake City, Utah to join family already established.
Ingrid met and married Charles K Whitlock (a returned missionary who served in Germany and spoke the German language) on Dec 27th, 1954. Charles & Ingrid lived in Salt Lake for a number of years, but eventually moved to Charles's hometown in Mayfield, Utah.
Ingrid had a few part-time jobs but mostly enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom of their 4 children. She loved working at the bakery, finding joy in both the friendly faces of the customers and the satisfying feeling of being part of something special. Her favorite job was working for South Sanpete School District as a bus driver for 18 years. She loved to sew and did so whenever possible. She made pettyicoats and would send them back to friends and family in Germany.
She lovingly raised her children, giving of her time and talents freely. Later in life when most parents are getting to be grandparents and enjoying vacations, she got to enjoy raising a second family when 4 of her grandchildren moved in. Ingrid found happiness in the simple moments, sharing stories around the kitchen table, celebrating every milestone at Fat Jack’s or swimming in Ephraim. Her presence was a constant comfort and her love a guiding light to her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles K Whitlock; daughter, Sandy; and son, Kenneth. Ingrid leaves behind Kristine (Scott) Bown, of North Logan, Tanya Whitlock of Mayfield, 7 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild with another one on the way in August.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mayfield Ward.
