Helen Whitlock

1932 - 2026

Helen King Lagrone Whitlock, 94, of Greenwood, widow of Earl Whitlock, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at her home.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Adger S. King, Sr. and Katie Mae Ard King. Helen was a homemaker for many years and assisted her husband with his business, Lagrone Plumbing Company. She was passionate about sewing and home decorating. Helen designed and sewed extraordinary window treatments, wedding gowns and clothing. Every stitch was sewn with perfection, love and nothing made her happier than to share her gifts with friends and family. Her generous spirit flowed to her children, grandchildren and friends. Helen was a member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church.

She was twice married first to the late Hoyt Lagrone and preceded in death by a son, Darrell Lagrone; brothers: Adger King Jr, Palmer King, and Huey King and sisters: Kathleen Enlow, Ruth Staley, Lucille Rhodes and Christine Still.

Surviving are her children, Jeffery W. Lagrone (Holley) and Judy Lagrone Corriher; stepson, Phil Whitlock; sister, Sue Smith; grandchildren, Anna Katherine Lagrone (Mark), Nathaniel Lagrone, Jack Lagrone, William Lagrone, Mary-Helen Eppelsheimer (Tom) and Emily Corriher; great granddaughter Eliot Eppelsheimer (Judah); great-great grandson, Mack Eppelsheimer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to express their appreciation to her dedicated staff of Hospice Care of the Piedmont and caretakers, Ann Jamros, Brandy White and Donna McDowell.
