Mr. Inness Eugene "Gene" Silcox

Mr. Inness Eugene "Gene" Silcox, age 79, of LaGrange, passed away on September 28, 2025. Gene was born on October 2, 1945, in Ft. Myers, Florida, to the late Daniel Hal Silcox, I, and Nettie Hurt Silcox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hal Silcox, II, and sister-in-law, Caroline Silcox.

Gene lived a life full of service, accomplishment, and love for his family. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After graduation, he attended officer school and went on to earn his wings as a United States Naval fighter pilot, flying jets with honor and distinction.

Following his honorable discharge, Gene began a 32-year career with General Motors, where he rose through the ranks with dedication and leadership until his retirement. Gene, Jorine and family moved to LaGrange in 2005, where he pursued a new adventure as the owner / dealer of a multi-franchise dealership, building not only a business but also lifelong friendships.

Deeply committed to his community, he served as a member of the Rotary Club and as a board member of the symphony, giving back in ways that enriched the lives of many.

Outside of work and service, Gene loved his Jeeps, grilling, and tinkering with machines but he was happiest on the water, boating in the fresh salt air of SW Florida. But above all, his greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family, who will carry his legacy of love, strength, and laughter forward.

Survivors include his wife, Jorine Ann Butterfield Silcox; sons, Draughon Silcox (Katie), Cripper Silcox (Lucretia) and Tyler Silcox (Kathy); daughter, Mehgan Rollings (Reese); brothers, J. Hardy Silcox (Sheila); sister, Kay May (the late Bill May); grandchildren, Emmie Silcox, Kenzie Silcox, Owen Silcox, Inness Silcox, Colm Silcox, Bridie Silcox, Meave Silcox, Ella Silcox, Jack Silcox, Ava Silcox, Lilly Rollings and Gavin Rollings; extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the LaGrange First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. G. Thomas Martin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until service time.

In honor of Gene's joyful spirit, the family encourages guests to wear light or bright colors to the service. Navy or other darker colors are welcome as well. The emphasis will be on celebrating a life well lived.
