Ioannis Thomopoulos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Murray Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. - Cascade Chapel on Jan. 6, 2026.
Ioannis "John" Thomopoulos was born on April 4, 1947 in Athens, Greece to Anastassios &
Artemis Thomopoulos. John completed primary school and 2 years of University for Architect-
ure. He went on to do his duty for his country and served with the Hellenic Air Force. Upon his
completion of service, John went on to live with his Aunt Niki and Uncle DeAngelos in Cherry
Hill, NJ. While residing their John attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he com-
pleted 2 years of study for Architecture. He went on to work as an Architect for 17 years.

In 1998 John decided to try something new and went to take the Civil Service exam to work
for the IRS. He was completely unaware that the young lady he observed coming through the
metal detector, who eventually sat next to him, would be the love of his life.

Once hired, John and April were assigned to the same unit. What started as friendship turned
into a life altering love. John and April were married July 7, 2001 at the Bellagio Hotel and
Casino in Las Vegas, NV. They resided in Cherry Hill, NJ while working at the IRS, where John
soon became a manager. Due to changes in staffing April's job ended which enabled them to
relocate to Conyers, Georgia.

Ten years later John decided to retire. His time was spent completing a never-ending honey
do list.

Anyone who has come in contact with John is aware of his loving and generous nature. No
one who has entered his home can say they were not treated as a King or Queen. John work-
ed tirelessly to ensure his guests were nothing less than completely satisfied. This was an
amazing feat given the time he spent engaging in his other passions which included watching
sports, all things planes, trains, and automobiles; let's not forget his witty come backs and
LOVE of sarcasm.

To say he'll be missed is a GROSS understatement. Let's just say.....

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER.
