Iolanda DiVecchia Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dello Russo Funeral Home - Medford on Jan. 31, 2026.
Iolanda (Spadorcia) DiVecchia, age 86, of Somerville passed away on Thursday, January 29th, at Mt. Auburn Hospital of Cambridge, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Prezza, Abruzzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Donato and Vincenza (Pasqualone) Spadorcia. Iolanda immigrated to the U.S. in 1969, and was employed as a factory worker.

Iolanda loved gardening, and jarred tomatoes for making her homemade sauce, and will also be remembered for her delicious handmade pizzelles. Iolanda was happiest of all when she was spending time with her family. She was a faithful congregant at St. Catherine of Genoa Church until her health prevented her from attending services in person, at which point she observed her faith on TV with Mother Angelica and the weekly Vatican broadcast.

Iolanda was the beloved wife of the late Antonio DiVecchia, and the devoted mother of Donato DiVecchia and his wife Laurinda, and the late Filomena DiVecchia. She was the loving grandmother of Filomena and her husband Jaleel Francis. Iolanda was predeceased by her sisters Lucia, Anna and Elena, and brother-in-law Giustino. She is survived by her sister-in-law Maria Beber and many loving nieces and nephews in the U.S., Canada and Italy.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 4 to 8 PM, and again on Wednesday, February 4th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Catherine Of Genoa Church, 179 Summer St., Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Iolanda's name to SUSAN G. KOMEN breast cancer research, online at: www.komen.org
