Iona Knight Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service - Richland Center on Feb. 22, 2026.
Iona Marcine Knight, 100, of Richland Center passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Pine Valley Community Village, with her family and wonderful staff by her side. She was born on June 26, 1925, in her aunt's home at Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Marjorie (Bowman) Riggs. Iona graduated from Maquoketa High School, excelling in classes including choir and typing.

Iona married Harold Louis Knight on October 21, 1945 at her parents' home. In 1959, Iona and Harold moved their family to their farm on Bell Center Ridge during the big snow of 1959. They farmed for many years until Harold's death when Iona moved to Richland Center. She worked at Mercury, Gold Bond, and enjoyed being a foster grandparent at Doudna School. Iona loved being a foster grandparent and still stayed in touch with some of her teachers.

Iona enjoyed sitting on the porch at the farm with her morning coffee, listening to the birds and nature. While at Pine Valley she still loved her morning coffee and the staff always brought her a cup first thing, which she loved them for doing. She enjoyed her very big garden on the farm, canning a lot of her produce. Iona also enjoyed crossword puzzles, both medium and hard, jigsaw puzzles, and traveling with Harold and their children. Iona loved taking the grandkids on backroads and 'getting lost.' She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Iona loved looking out her window to a wonderful country view, watching her birds and looking for deer.

Iona was always kind and encouraging to family and friends and having a smile for anyone she met. She loved music and spending time with her family, who she loved with all of her heart.

Iona is survived by her daughter: Lynne Camp of Jefferson; Lynne's daughter Amy (Ken) Strege and their children: Caleb and Keegan;

Iona's daughter: Dianne Knight of Richland Center;

Iona's son: Michael (Mary) Knight of Soldiers Grove; their children Michelle (Bill) Hall of Rockford, Jena (Curt) Neuroth and their son Jacob Neuroth;

Iona's grandson Jason Knight of Soldiers Grove;

Special nieces: Pat, Linda, Janelle, Danielle, Lynnette, Nicki, Janice, Vickie;

Special friends: Annette Clark, Donna Storms, Kathy Anderson, Janet Olson, Gaylord and Arlene Barto, Theresa Hansen, Thursday Coffee Friends, and Pine Valley Staff.

Iona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, mother-in-law Maude Knight, sisters Earline, Bertha Mae, Evelyn, brother LaVerne, several loved nieces and nephews, cousins, several friends, and special friends Faye Bloedow, Illif Bell, and Dort Hansen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Five Points Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 9:30 until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. The family requests memorials in Iona's name be directed to Five Points Lutheran Church. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
