Steven Knoble Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service - Richland Center on Feb. 16, 2026.
Steven G Knoble, 72, of Spring Green Wisconsin died on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on February 28,1953 in Boscobel the son of Milton Andy and Lenice Marie (Lostetter) Knoble. Steve attended Boscobel then Blue River schools before graduating from Riverdale High School.
Steve met the love of his life Lois Mueller while attending school. They graduated together in 1972 then married on November 3rd of the following year. They enjoyed over 52 years of happiness together, supporting each other through the good times and bad.
Steve grew up working on a farm while attending school. He later worked for Windward Farms, Universal Silencer as a welder and then moved into management there. While living in Muscoda Steve was a member of the Muscoda Fire Department. After several years in Muscoda Steve & Lois relocated to Cross Plains where Steve took a position with Wingra Builders of Madison, a home construction builder and then in-effort to be closer to home he took a position at Wick homes in Mazomanie. Unfortunately, due to a work injury he was forced to retire. He went through a long and painful recovery and subsequently was unable to return to work.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman and loved to be in the woods or near the water. He enjoyed mushroom hunting in the spring and would walk for miles to find the elusive morels. He loved to deer hunt in the fall and thoroughly enjoyed having his Son and Grandchildren out there with him. In earlier days Lois would accompany him as well. He also loved to fish and would take any opportunity to get out on the water and take daughter Julie whenever she could accompany him. He also braved the cold because of his love of ice fishing in the winter.
These past few years we all have gotten to see his creative side. He enjoyed going to rummage/garage sales and reuse stores to find "treasures" that he could put together to make "lawn art". He was rather good at it, even though sometimes he and Lois didn't agree on how something should go together…. He sold various pieces at garage sales, but he would give away many, just to make someone else's day brighter. Steve was a people-person, and he could strike up a conversation with anyone and if it was a person who seemed down on their luck Steve would buy them a sandwich or a soda pop and try to make their day a bit brighter.
Steve was a kind & gentle man with a huge caring heart. Above all Steve loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He really liked to cook and bake and would grill up enough meat to last a good week and then split it up with the Kids & Grandkids. He would share his baked goods and crafts with the neighbors, as well as the staff at doctor, dentist and pharmacy offices that he had to visit. He just liked to make people happy!
Most recently he was confined inside. So, in true Steve fashion he worked on his "art" inside (except for painting) and spent time watching sports and game shows. He liked feeding and watching the birds and fighting with all the squirrels.
