Iona “June” Sliger, 90, of Derby, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on November 21, 2025.
June was born on August 11, 1935 to Ollie & Mildred Williams, in Springfield, MO. She dedicated her life to her family and her passion of caring for children. Her loving spirit brightened the lives of all who knew her.
June met William “Bill” Sliger, they were married December 23, 1957. June was a stay at home mother and provided care for many other children through the years. In 1972, Bill and June made their home in Derby, where they both called home for the remainder of their lives surrounded by most of their children. June was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sliger; mother, Mildred Caldwell Williams; father, Ollie Williams; sister, Mary Story; son, Billy Sliger, and great grandson, Ryan Webb. She is survived by 8 children, Tammy (Drew) Brawner of Wichita, Pamela (Paul) Srock of Derby, Lori (Richard) Bailey of Derby, Chris (Melanie) Sliger of Derby, Faye (Joe) Bishop of Florida, Michael Sliger, Iona (Alan) Ballard of Derby, & David (Sabrina) Sliger of Derby. June had 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren that she has care for and shared her endless love. Many adored nieces and nephews that have been impacted by her giving heart alongside her own children.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday, November 28, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 E Patriot Ave, Derby, KS 67037.
