It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eva Nell Sliger, who left us on October 22, 2025, at the age of 86 in Brownwood, Texas. Born on July 16, 1939, to Willie Earnest "Doc" and Pearl (Phifer) Layman, Eva lived a full, vibrant life that touched everyone she met. She married her lifelong partner, Walter Lee Sliger, on October 31, 1956, in Comanche, Texas. Together, they shared a beautiful journey full of love and laughter for 65 incredible years.

Eva was known for her unmatched love of life. Whether it was sharing a meal with her daughters, casting a line while fishing, or decking the halls for Christmas, she filled every moment with joy. Family was everything to her, and she cherished every second spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who was the light of her life. She had a gift for conversation and never met a stranger-her warm spirit and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure to all who crossed her path. She was also a passionate animal lover, treasuring her little dogs, and cats, and her faith in God played an important role in her life.

She is survived by her daughter, LaNell Harbour Sliger; daughter, Brenda Casey; grandchildren, Jason and wife Megan Harbour, Terra and husband Steven Bradish, Carlton and wife Andrea Casey, Melody and husband Bryan Carroll, Seamus Casey and Taylor Graves; great grandchildren, Ariel Harbour, Autumn Harbour, Payton Casey, Blayne Casey, Kelcy Casey, Chase Carroll, Denver Carroll, Morgan Casey, Brendan Casey; great great grandchildren, Bryson Casey and Carter Biggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Sliger; parents Willie Earnest "Doc" (Papa) Layman and Pearl (Phifer) Layman; sister, Jewell Ripley; brothers, Otis Layman, James Layman, Earnest Layman, and Willie Layman.
