Iona Gayl Zenk was born November 20, 1929 in St Charles, Minnesota, the daughter of Harold and Ada (Mason) Zenk. She attended Thomson York Community High School. She married James Tack on July 16, 1948. They were married 77 years and together they had three children.
She worked at Eaton Corporation for many years, sold Home Interiors and was a homemaker. She and her husband enjoyed the time they spent at their cabin in Northern Minnesota for many years and her grandchildren remember numerous trips and memories at the cabin. She enjoyed fishing, camping and motorcycle trips all over the country with Jim. She was a hardworking woman who loved time spent with her family. Easter egg hunts and Christmas Eve celebrations at her home with the entire family will always be remembered. In recent years as the family has grown in size the house was busting at the seams but it was full of great food and lots of love. She had a sense of humor and she and Jim had a long marriage that all should strive for.
Iona is survived by her husband James Tack of Savanna, Illinois; three children: Mary (Ed) Nolan of Clinton, James Tack of Fulton and Donna (Richard) Hunter of Loves Park, Illinois; grandchildren: Ed Nolan, Jr, Brad (Sarah) Nolan, Teresa (Steve) Petro, Craig (Jami) Tack, Melissa (Aaron) Bitner, Sarah (August) Buchhalter, Chad (Mary) Hunter and Amy (LJ) Sola; great grandchildren: Cody, Connor, Nathan, Tyler, Taylor, Cara, Brandon, Trevor, Ethan, Riley and Chase; sister Marlys Drier of Mt. Caroll, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
