Mrs. Iraci De Melo Neri Rowlett, age 73, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on June 21, 1950 in Paraiba, Brazil. She was the loving daughter of the late Camilo Felipe Neri and Maria Emilia De Melo. She graduated from high school in Brazil and attended Senac College. Iraci worked in Brazil as a secretary, archivist, and travel agent. She had worked with Houghton Hotel Group, Coco Cabana, and Sangeltur Travel Agency. She moved to the United States from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in September 1988. On August 10, 1988 Iraci was united in marriage to Gary Alan Rowlett in Brazil. She loved Madison and enjoyed working for many local businesses, Historic Broadway Hotel and Restaurant, Antiques on Main, Sunrise Golf Course, Fudge Factory, Boutique La Feme, the jewelry department at Walmart, the jewelry department at J.C. Penney, and the Jewel Place. She had also enjoyed her time working as a senior clerk with Belterra Casino and Resort in Switzerland County. Iraci was raised Catholic and after moving to Madison became a member of Christ Episcopal Church in downtown Madison. She was a talented artist making custom jewelry, costumes and especially at Halloween. She loved to dance and socialize. She was involved in many activities with the Madison downtown district especially with the festivals with Ribberfest, Rooster Tail, and was a board member of the Kindness Group (Jefferson County). Iraci was warm, caring and always smiling. She loved her dog, Jasper and her kitty, Fluffy. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 11:25 p.m. at the Waters of Clifty Falls. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute
A LOVING FAMILY
Iraci will be missed by her step-daughters, Jill Simmons and her companion, Charlie Rector of Milton, Kentucky, Gina Everett and her husband, Lyle of Madison, Indiana; her step-son, Jeff Rowlett and his wife, Kathy of Milton, Kentucky; her step-grandchildren, Seth Rowlett (Hannah), Shane Rowlett (Charley), Sam Everett (Kyla), Heidi Everett, and Evan Simmons; her step-great grandchildren, Fletcher, Winnie Sue, Regan, Levi, Charlie, McKenna, Jackson and Ripley; her brothers, Enedino De Melo Neri of Rio, Aluiseo De Melo Neri of Rio, Armando De Melo Neri of Rio; her sister, Iuraci De Melo Neri of Pilar Paraiba; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Camilo Felipe Neri, her mother, Maria Emilia De Melo, her brother, Orlando De Melo Neri, her sister-in-law, Maria De Melo and her former husband, Gary Alan Rowlett, died October 29, 2019.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
