Irene Barnett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Her life was shaped by devotion to family, a strong sense of humor, and the steady rhythms of daily care. Born on December 18, 1935, in the West Mifflin area of Pittsburgh, Irene was one of ten children of Cecelia and Gustav Seitz. She grew up in a bustling, close-knit household that shaped her enduring love of family. In 1962, she married William "Bill" Barnett, and the two shared 63 years together-building a life grounded in affection and laughter. Irene was a lover of books, flowers, and music. She enjoyed crime shows and time spent with family. A strong and steady mother, she created a home full of good soup and plenty of humor to go along with it. She and Bill enjoyed traveling in their retirement, taking several cruises and seeing new places together. Irene is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Barnett; her children Cathy, Tracy, and Brian; her grandchildren Trinity and Katalina; her sister Marion Barnett; and her brothers Ray and Tom Seitz. She was preceded in death by her parents and six of her siblings. Her presence was a constant - a calm, loving foundation for those she cared for. She will be missed beyond measure and remembered with lasting affection. A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, September 6, at 1 P.M at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon in charge of arrangements. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com
