Irene Snider Broadwell

Mary Irene Snider Broadwell, affectionately known as Irene to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, in Pembroke, VA, at the age of 82. Born on September 26, 1943, in West Virginia, Irene's life was a testament to the love and devotion she had for her family, friends, and community.

Irene was the beloved wife of Joe Broadwell, with whom she shared a remarkable journey of 63 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother to her four children, Bobby Broadwell, Jeff Broadwell and his wife Angie, Sherry Brewster and her husband Ted, and Lisa Bostic and her husband Jerod. Irene's joy was multiplied with the birth of each of her ten grandchildren and further still with the arrival of her two great-grandchildren.

Irene was the caring sister of Martha Jennelle and her husband Reggie. She was a central figure in the lives of her numerous family members and friends, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Celia Cochran Snider, whose values of hard work and compassion she embodied throughout her life.

Before retiring, Irene dedicated many years of service to Celanese. Irene's passion for life was evident in everything she did. She found immense joy in her grandchildren. Irene could often be found helping others, a true reflection of her generous spirit. Shopping was a great pastime for Irene. Gardening was another of her joys, particularly tending to her flowers.
