Irene Dunham

Irene Dunham of Sun City West, loving wife, mother of five, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2025, at the age of 95. Irene and her husband, Bob, who passed in 2008, were both born in Springfield, Illinois, where they grew up as neighbors and fell in love. Irene's family and friends knew her as a caring, kind, thoughtful person who never had a mean bone in her body, her door was always open to everyone. She was devoted to her loving husband, Bob, and shouldered the challenges of being a young Navy wife during moves and deployments with one, two, then three little ones in tow, with strength and independence-and didn't break a sweat when two more little ones arrived years later when she had to pack for seven. When she and Bob moved to Sun City West over 20 years ago, they fell in love with the community and the activities that they were a part of, especially the computer group and the exercise group. It was Irene's self-assured strength and independence along with her kind and caring nature that defined her and she remained independent to the end, often saying if she doesn't keep moving, she'll rust. She always spoke fondly of her family, whom she loved and cherished, and who visited her frequently. Through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, and friends, her love lives on.

A Celebration of Life memorial has been planned for January to accommodate all who expressed the desire to attend. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3pm, Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel, 13738 Camino del Sol, Sun City West, AZ.
