Georgina Barron “Gina” Dunham, 87, of Niles, died peacefully Thursday, November 20, 2025 in the comfort of her family’s presence.
Her life began August 16, 1938 in Cheboygan, Michigan the only child born to Frank and Jean Barron. She married Richard J. “Dick” Dunham in June 1961 in Trinity Episcopal Church, Niles. After fifty-four years of marriage, he preceded her in death August 23, 2015.
Gina cherished her family as they were guiding force. She was a member and President, at one time, of the Niles Garden Club. She was also a member of Seepewa Reading Club. She was a 1956 graduate of Niles High School. She was a life long member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Niles and was the historian of the church. Gina majored in history and minored in English Literature at the Indiana University where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree.
She and Dick enjoyed traveling. After his retirement, they drove to and around Alaska for at least six weeks. They also traveled to Scotland and Ireland. The family has fond memories of camping trips in rustic areas. She was an avid reader, especially historical fiction.
Gina will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her three sons, Sean (Jennifer) Dunham of Bemidji, Minnesota, Daniel (Hanh) Dunham of Tarpon Springs, Florida, James Dunham of White Pigeon; six grandchildren, Elaine Williams, Paige (Fred) Somes, Caroline Frandsen, Jessica Dunham, Bridget Dunham, Barron Dunham; two great grandchildren, Graham Somes, Eleanor Somes; and niece, Christine Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband.
Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service on a date and a time to be announced.
Gina will be encrypted with her husband in Silverbrook Cemetery.
