Date of Death: July 1, 2025
Date of Birth: November 5, 1942
Irene Jane (Briggs) Guilmette, of blessed memory,
age 82, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of July 1, 2025 after a long illness. She was a devoted mother to Robert Guilmette and Kathy (Guilmette) Moberg and the loving grandmother to 10 grand-children (Brian, April, Robert, Crystal, Daniel, Nicole, Heather, Keith, Shawn, and Lauren) and was graced with many great-grandchildren of whom she adored. She is also survived by her sister in law Jeanie Briggs.
Irene was born premature on November 5, 1942 to Daryl and Elsie (Chabot) Briggs. Her resilient spirit turned into a tenacious love of life and a devotion to her faith in a higher power.
She is preceded in death by her siblings; sisters Rita Humphrey, Jeanette Poussard, and Beatrice Briggs, and brother Johnny; and her grandchildren Daniel and Keith.
Apart from her family, Irene enjoyed crafting, particularly sewing rosettes; bingo; and participating in activities at the Center for Wisdom's Women. She was active in all spiritual and religious opportunities and had a passion for birds and people-watching. She was a testament of honesty and virtue; sugar and spice and everything nice.
The family expresses gratitude to Sarah Frye Assisted Living and Beacon Hospice for their support in ensuring she lived a life with dignity.
There will be a small ceremony open to friends at the Briggs family plot at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn, Maine on Tuesday July 22, 2025 at 10 am.
To all who knew her, Irene's memory will forever be a blessing.
