Irene Esther Hoemann (nee' Biermann) was born March 23, 1935 at the family home in
Leslie, MO to William and Louise (nee' Bermann) Biermann. She passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the age of 90 years.
Irene grew up in
Leslie, MO where she attended Leslie School through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Willard Hoemann on April 4, 1959 at Leslie Methodist Church. The couple made their home in
Webster Groves, MO and their marriage was blessed with two children.
In 1965, Willard and Irene moved to the
Washington, MO area. Irene became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and took an active role in the church for many years. She was a longtime member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the ladies' quilting group. Irene also taught Sunday school, volunteered with the church's Vacation Bible School program, and assisted with preparing and serving funeral lunches at the church.
Irene lived her life with one unwavering mission, expressed through many cherished roles- daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, home cleaning professional, childcare provider, devoted church member, and prayer warrior- her purpose remained the same: to share the Gospel with every person she met. Her faith was not simply spoken; it was lived. She taught her family to pray continually and to pray with zeal, cultivating a deep and personal relationship with her Savior.
Irene reached people in every setting. Whether she was preparing a delicious home-cooked meal, gathered around the card table, tending her garden while her husband mowed the lawn, supporting her children as they raised their own families, building lasting friendships at church and in the community, or joyfully polka dancing with friends, Irene reflected her faith through love, hospitality, and connection.
In every place she stood, Irene sowed seeds of faith, love, and steadfast devotion that will continue to grow for generations.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 67 years, Willard Hoemann; her parents, William and Louise Biermann; her parents-in-law, Adolph and Helen (nee' Wolff) Hoemann; six siblings: Wilma Young (late husband Ben), Irma Evert (late husband Edgar), Eleanor Sullentrup-Berger (late husbands Lawrence Sullentrup and Walter Berger), Albert Biermann (late wife Irene), Lucille Brune (late husband Gilbert), and Bill Biermann (late wife Pauline).
Irene is survived by two children: Mark Hoemann and wife Lisa of Washington and Lynn Siedhoff and husband Virgil of Beaufort; seven grandchildren: Benjamin Hoemann, Lucas Hoemann (significant other Maddie Dowil), Matthew Hoemann (Grace), Sarah Tinkey (Griffin), Emily Fink (Trey), Lindsy Siedhoff (fiancé Dustin Griffin), and Megan Siedhoff (significant other Karter Lowry); two great-grandchildren: Hayes Fink and Harper Fink; one brother, Gilpin Biermann of Collinsville, IL; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
