Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oltmann Funeral Home - Union from Jan. 28 to Jan. 29, 2026.
Willard Dennis Hoemann was born October 31, 1933 in Port Hudson, MO to Adolph and Helen (nee' Wolff) Hoemann. He passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at his home near
Washington, MO at the age of 92 years.
Willard grew up in the small town of Port Hudson, near New Haven, MO where he attended Port Hudson Grade School through sixth grade. He continued his education at Ebenezer School and graduated from Washington High School in 1951. Willard proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955 until he was honorably discharged in 1957. He attained the rank of SP3 and completed the remainder of his six-year commitment in the Army Reserves. Willard was united in marriage to Miss Irene Biermann on April 4, 1959 at Leslie Methodist Church in Leslie, MO. The couple made their home in
Webster Groves, MO. Their marriage was blessed with two children.
In 1965, Willard and Irene moved to the
Washington, MO area and Willard pursued his dream of owning his own barbershop. He owned and operated Town and Country Barbershop in downtown Union for over 50 years. Willard spent his career bringing laughter and joy to everyone who stepped into his barber shop. He delighted first-time haircut kids with Double Bubble gum and "talked shop" with the guys, turning ordinary visits into lasting connections. Through his work, Willard created a true community at the barber shop, sharing Christ's love daily with his customers.
A natural fixer, Willard could repair just about anything. He learned to weld while serving in the Army and developed a lifelong love of tinkering and problem-solving. A self-proclaimed card shark, he especially enjoyed teaching anyone willing to learn his version of Euchre.
Willard found joy in the simple pleasures of life-cutting grass, "playing" on his tractor, tackling outdoor projects, playing cards, taking long drives, turkey hunting, and polka dancing with his beloved wife, Irene. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Willard was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in
Union, MO and served as an elder in the church for many years.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Helen Hoemann; his parents-in-law, William and Louise (nee' Bermann) Biermann; and his four siblings: Ivo Hoemann (Nelda), Eilene Darrah (Thomas), Eldore Hoemann (Shirley), and Marilyn Deppermann (Wilbert).
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 67 years, Irene Hoemann of Washington; two children: Mark Hoemann and wife Lisa of Washington and Lynn Siedhoff and husband Virgil of Beaufort; seven grandchildren: Benjamin Hoemann, Lucas Hoemann (significant other Maddie Dowil), Matthew Hoemann (Grace), Sarah Tinkey (Griffin), Emily Fink (Trey), Lindsy Siedhoff (fiancé Dustin Griffin), and Megan Siedhoff (significant other Karter Lowry); two great-grandchildren: Hayes Fink and Harper Fink; one brother-in-law, Gilpin Biermann of Collinsville, IL; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
