Irene L. Moore, born on June 11, 1951, in Brownsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 26, 2024. A beloved figure to many, Irene lived a life marked by love, dedication, and community. She made everyone she met feel love and accepted as a friend.

Irene graduated from Shepherdsville High School in 1969 and pursued her passion for caring by attending Jefferson Community College where she was enrolled in the nursing program. Her commitment to helping others extended far beyond her education she was a devoted member of the Louisville, Blairwood, and Plainview Tennis Clubs, where her enthusiasm for the game brought joy to all who played alongside her.

Married to her loving husband of 56 years, Paul F. Moore, on June 30, 1968, in Guntersville, Alabama, Irene and Paul shared a bond that was exemplified by their mutual dedication to volunteer work. Together, they selflessly assisted at the Masonic Homes of Louisville and were members at St. Margaret Mary Parish, where their contributions to the community were cherished.

Irene’s warmth and kindness resonated throughout her family, which includes her husband Paul, along with her sisters, Norma Jean King (Russ) and Sharlene Grant (Kenny). She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jimmy Donahue, her beloved niece, Lisa Sowders, and her nephew, Blake Habert. Irene was particularly close to her godchildren: Zachary, Jacob, Kaleb, Quade Wise, Annabelle Wise-Sypher, and Caleb Harden, all of whom were dear to her heart.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James and Hazel Lashley, her sister Kathleen J. Donahue, and her niece Lisa's husband, Rick Sowders. Their memories remain a treasure in the lives of those who knew Irene.

Family and friends are invited to honor Irene Moore during a visitation on September 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on September 5, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service on September 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM, both to be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243.
