I first had the opportunity to become acquainted with Irene as we both taught in Denison, Texas, at Lamar. Her students and co-workers loved her and respected her while, we both being Okies, developed a close friendship. Irene was a strong woman who believed in working, worshiping, and family. Irene will always be remembered as an educational icon; she truly made a difference.
Rest now sweet friend in Eternal Peace.
