Mrs. Irene Cox Norman, age 98, of State Road, passed away Wednesday December 3, 2025, at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Elkin. She was born June 26, 1927, in Wilkes County, to the late Dollie R. Cox and the late Roxie Jane Spice Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband , Kenneth Norman.
Left to cherish her memories are her son and daughter-in-law, Dollie and Debra Norman; grandchildren, Sharon Johnson and Wesley Norman; four great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Jean Miller and her husband Jack Miller; her sister Tessie Cox Nixon Spicer; and her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Magdelene Cox.
Mrs. Norman was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, she loved coloring, quilting and cooking for her family and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Norman will be Sunday December 7, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 8, 2025, at Gum Orchard Baptist Church with Pastor William Shew and Rev. Keith Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Thurmond. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Norman family.
