Irene Rangel Obituary

Today, we honor a woman whose life was a testament to quiet strength, gentle faith, and unwavering love. A faithful servant to our Lord, she lived her Catholic faith not only in her prayers, which she offered often and wholeheartedly, but in the way she treated every person placed in her path-with kindness, a deep sense of loyalty, and devotion. Her rosary was never far from her hands, and neither was her compassion.

She found joy in the simple things: slow walks that let her take in the beauty of the world, the laughter and closeness of family gatherings, the colorful peace of gardens, and her annual visits to the beach. She surrounded herself with floral arrangements and religious memorabilia to create a calm space for herself where she would spend hours in private prayer. When able, she enjoyed spending time in gardens amongst the beauty of nature.

She was a dedicated caretaker; first to her younger siblings, and then to her numerous nieces and nephews for the entirety of her life, creating cherished memories, sharing her one-of-a-kind stories, and giving unconditional love to them. To her nieces and nephews, she was far more than an aunt-she was a second mother. With patience, tenderness, and a storyteller's gift, she helped raise them, shape them, and guide them. Her stories-told with humor, wisdom, and a sparkle in her eyes-will remain cherished memories, passed down with affection. She had an unwavering loyalty to her family, and her love was a constant source of warmth.

She is preceded in death by her mother (Maria Ester Rangel Lazo), her father (Onesimo Lazo Hernandez), her brother (Inocencio Lazo), and her sister (Eufemia Lazo). She is survived by 5 sisters: Isidra (husband-Ricardo), Elisa, Olga (husband-Roque), Maria, Nila (husband-Steven) and 3 brothers: Filimon (wife-Gloria), Salvador (wife-Kelly), and Manuel (fiancé-Katie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she held very close to her heart.

Her life was a quiet blessing to all who knew her. Faithful, loving, dedicated, and gentle-she leaves behind a legacy rooted in faith, nurtured by family, and brightened by the beauty she cultivated in both gardens and hearts. Her shy smile and wicked sense of humor will remain in our hearts. May her memory continue to inspire us, and may her spirit remain with us in every prayer, every story shared, and every flower in bloom.
