Jayce E. Sonnier, 24, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Jayce was born on June 28, 2001, in Odessa, Texas, to Shawna Barron Preston and Shannon Sonnier. From a young age, it was clear Jayce marched to the beat of his own drum. He was funny – without even trying; he was brilliant, talented, and so loved.

He graduated from Boerne High School in 2019, and continued working in the restaurant industry. However, when Jayce wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his friends, both near and far. Some of his most precious memories were also spent with his best friend and furry companion, Tyson,

Jayce was a longtime fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed catching a game on Sunday. He also enjoyed watching UFC matches.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Darryl Sonnier and Wendell Barron.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Shawna Barron Preston and Shannon Sonnier; siblings, Jordan Sonnier and his wife Jaycee, their daughter Palmer and their expecting twins, Lexie Sonnier, Myla Sonnier, and Zach Rhymes and his son Zayne; grandmother, Brenda Barron and Sandra Sonnier; his aunt, Jamie Dunlap and her husband Billy; and his uncle, Shane Barron.

Additionally, left to miss his cuddles, treats, and all their adventures together is his faithful dog and best buddy, Tyson.

When Jayce's family remembers him, they remember his genuine spirit, his caring nature, and his smile – rare, but beautiful. They will always recall his brilliance and how he never met a stranger. Jayce was so many things to so many people - a cherished son, a beloved brother, a proud uncle, and a treasured grandchild. He will be missed greatly and forever loved.

A Celebration of Jayce's Life will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, beginning at 4 p.m. at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas, at 2301 E 29th Street.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, you consider volunteering, donating to, or visiting your local animal shelter in Jayce's memory.
