LIMA -- Irene D. Schulz, 100, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on December 25, 2022, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
Irene was born on June 8, 1922 in Lima, Ohio, to Edward and Lena (Archinal) Hohl. On June 11, 1944 she married Walter J. Schulz, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1986.
Irene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lima, Ohio. She was also a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem #20, and a Past Mighty Chosen One, Order of the Eastern Star #26, Delphos, Ohio, and El Kran Caldron (Past Worthy High Priest). Irene worked at the Tank Depot during WWII (1942-1945), and also previously worked at Lima Telephone and Sioux Bee Honey Factory.
She is survived by her sons, John A. Schulz and Donald L. "Dan" (Pam) Schulz; grandchildren: John P. (Laura) Schulz, Margaret (Dennis) Mills, and Brent L. (Fawn) Schulz; great-grandchildren: Jackie, Christopher, Johnathan, Molly, Ayden, Brody, Adilene, and Cortlyn; great-great-grandchildren: Noah, Lillian, Theodore, and Shelby.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Donald Hohl and his companion Martha Hawk; a sister Mildred M. (Franklin) Day; and a daughter-in-law, Diane Schulz.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Dan Gutman will officiate. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Legacy Hospice.
