Irene L. Seippel, age 92, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on July 12, 1932, in Little Grant Township, the daughter of Ellsworth and Elva (Bishell) Landon. Irene attended Pine Knob School, a one room country school. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1950. Irene was employed as a bookkeeper with Economy Feed Mill, FS, and Schaefer Milling Company. Irene was a people person and really enjoyed her job. A friend introduced Irene to John Seippel at a dance in Rockville. They were married on April 24, 1956, at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster and were married for 68 years. In 1963, they purchased and moved to Maple Valley farm where they raised their family and made Seipland Maple Syrup. In 1971, John along with his brother Henry began Seippel Bros Log and Lumber and Irene worked as their bookkeeper. Irene was a wonderful seamstress and taught all four of her children how to sew. She was a 4-H leader with the Beetown Busy Braves, Lutheran Church Quilters, St. Clement Quilters, West Grant Saddle Club, and most recently was the president of the Resident Council at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include her children: Susan (Gary) Cummins, Lancaster, Teresa (Pat) Schroeder, Highland Park, IL, John (Deanna) Seippel, Jr., Lancaster, Lori Seippel, Wisconsin Dells; nine grandchildren: Craig Cummins, Curt (Beth) Cummins, Chris (Karen) Schroeder, Jeremy Seippel, Justin (Nichole) Seippel, Melissa (Jonathan) Fetsko, Cami (Chris) Ewers, Jason (Tonia) Seippel, and Jamin (Alli) Seippel; 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way; Irene was excited to be a great-great grandma. She is further survived by her siblings: Phyllis Klaas, Leo and Cecil (Janice) Landon; sisters-in-law, Ruby Landon and Vernetta Seippel; brother-in-law, Gerald Krohn; nieces, nephews and many members of the Seippel family.

In addition to her parents and her husband John who preceded her in death on October 30, 2024, Irene was preceded in death by her siblings: Maurice (Charlotte) Landon, Virgil Landon and Ruth Krohn; a brother-in-law, Eugene Klaas and a sister-in-law, Clara Landon; and members of the Seippel and Landon family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster with Pastor Laura Jasiczek officiating. Burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.
