BEETOWN – Lillian F. “Bid” Duncan, age 94, of Beetown, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in South Lancaster Township. She was born on January 20, 1931, at home in Beetown, the daughter of Archie and Vera (Elwell) Reynolds. Bid attended Five Points school and Beetown school. At the age of twelve, she worked for local families as a nanny and cooked and baked for them. Bid graduated from Lancaster High School in 1948. On June 30, 1949, she was united in marriage to Dennis L. Duncan in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple farmed together. In 1965, Bid began her employment with Rapid Dye in Cassville and worked there for several years. She later worked for Schurman’s Wisconsin Cheese Country, Inc., until she was 84 and the factory closed. Bid was a wonderful cook and was famous for her chicken and homemade noodles. She enjoyed loons, camping, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her three children: Cheryl (Gary Luhman) Blackbourn, Don (Phyllis) Duncan, and Gary (Lynette Dornink) Duncan; eight grandchildren: Tyler (Lynn), Travis (Wendy) Blackbourn, Kelly (Kevin Terrell) Duncan, Kim (Aaron) Duncan-Poller, Dan (Courtney) Duncan, Chase, Andrea (Austin) Duncan-Martin, Shaina (Matthew) Duncan-Leeser; eight great-grandchildren: Gavin, twins Colin and Luke, Brody Blackbourn, Bentley, Tayte, and Bexley Duncan, and River Martin; one great-great grandchild, Boston Blackbourn; sisters-in-law: Ramona and Connie Reynolds and Shirley Duncan.
In addition to her parents, Bid was preceded in death by her husband Dennis in 2017; a son-in-law, Dennis Blackbourn; daughter-in-law, Rose Duncan; her siblings: Hobart, Marshall (Jeanine), Delano “Bud” Reynolds, and Wilma (Robert) Sisley; in-laws: Iona “Sis” (Gerald) Mayne and Norman Duncan.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1234 S Madison in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery, Beetown, at a later date. Family and friends may visit on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
