Irene June Sunday, 92, of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Buchanan Meadows.
A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Memorial contributions in Irene's name may be made to Buchanan Meadows for bingo group prizes or Caring Circle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
Irene was born on June 6, 1931, to Jack Sr., and Natale (Grau) Wyman in St. Joseph, Michigan. She attended Trinity Lutheran High School in St. Joseph. On June 29, 1950, Irene married William Sunday in Berrien Springs.
Irene was an exceptional cook and enjoyed hosting family gatherings and holidays. The family fondly remembers her Potato Pancakes being a staple. Irene enjoyed watching sports, particularly supporting Michigan or Michigan State in Football and Basketball. A family woman, Irene cherished time spent with them and always supported her grandchildren. Even if it meant rooting for Ohio State as some of them attended there.
Irene is survived by her children, Bill (Debbie) Sunday of Niles, Jerry (Susie) Sunday of Buchanan, Natalie (Mark) Mandle of Fort Mill, SC. and Dale (Jeanne) Sunday of Oak Creek, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Schiedel, Jamie (Brian) Lange, Lisa Sears, Julie Sunday, Matthew (Cheryl) Mandle, Eric (Elizabeth) Mandle; great-grandchildren, Emma & Caleb Kenyon, Brody & Mia Lange, Ava Sears, Brennan Mandle, Winnie Mandle and sister, Betty Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Natale Wyman, Sr.; husband, William Sunday; sisters, Nina Fisher, Kathleen Stueve, Ruthie Dunnick and brother, Jack Wyman, Jr.
