Irene Tempesta Obituary
February 26, 1946 - November 10, 2025
RACINE, WI - Irene Paula Tempesta, age 79, passed away Monday morning, November 10, 2025, at her home. She was born in Racine on February 26, 1946, daughter of the late Gary Walter and Irene Dora (née Bowers) Lentz.
Irene graduated from Washington Park High School, Class of 1964. On February 24, 1968, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronald J. Tempesta, at St. Rita Catholic Church. They shared 57 wonderful years together before Ron's passing on April 25 of this year.
Irene was employed at St. Richard's Catholic Church for 10 years. She enjoyed her social outings and playing cards with her friends. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children: Rebecca (Randall) Rovik, Anna Tempesta (Frank Cacciotti), Joseph (Aubrey) Tempesta, and Sarah Sorensen (Adam Lantz); grandchildren, Cali Allan, Benjamin Rovik, Taite Allan, Samuel (Nicole) Rovik, Elizabeth Rovik, Zachary Tempesta, Julia Rovik, and Roy LaPerriere; great-granddaughter, Emeline Grace Rovik; sisters, Gail Lentz and Carol (Bruce) Hansen; in-laws, Cathleen Tempesta, Annette Tempesta-Thibodeault, and Rose Ann (Chuck) Hoeft; and her lifelong dear friend, Barb Schoeffel; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald J. Tempesta; her parents, Gary and Irene Lentz; and her cherished son, Zachary James Sorensen.
An open-house celebration of Irene's life will take place at Reefpoint Brewhouse, 2 Christopher Columbus Causeway, on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to stop by at any time. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a brief time when her family will share memories and eulogies in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Inclusive Living Possibilities Inc., the organization building the future home of her grandson, Zachary, have been suggested.
