Monson – Irene M. (Nienhaus) Titel, 93, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024. Irene was born in Greenleaf WI May 25, 1931 to the late Leo and Mary (Petrie) Nienhaus. She spent her childhood in Wisconsin and began raising her family there before moving to Monson in 1967. She has lived in the Monson and Palmer area for many years. Irene retired from Sanderson MacLeod in Palmer at age 75 after 37 years. She began as a machine operator and retired as an inspector. During her tenure at the “Better Brush Company” she would often walk to work. Irene loved working on jigsaw puzzles often having them set up and started on a table in her home. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and loved watching their games on TV. She could never refuse a homemade bread pudding and loved her grand fur babies.
Irene was predeceased by her husband John Richard Titel in 1998. She leaves her daughters, Sharon Palmer of Brookfield, Lynnell Durkee and husband Earl of Dudley and Bonnie Lloyd and husband Peter of Monson; her beloved sister, whom she visited as often as she could, Delores Lemke of Pulaski WI; grandchildren, Daniel Palmer and his wife Michelle, Lori Palmer, Ranee Cournoyer and husband Dan, Debbie McNaughton and husband Paul, Shawn Lloyd and wife Leslie; a very special niece Debbie Zelten and husband Pat of Pulaski WI, a nephew Roger Lemke and wife Jan of Salem OR; great grandchildren and many extended family members. Irene was predeceased by her six siblings and grandson, Peter Lloyd, Jr.
The family wishes to thank Legacy Lifecare Hospice at JGS Nursing Home for the care and compassion they showed to Irene. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home of Monson. Services are private. Burial will take place at a later date in the family lot in Monson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Legacy VNA and Hospice, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow, MA 01106.
