Irina was born on December 18, 1957, in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, welcomed to the world by her loving parents, Pavel and Nelya. Growing up, Irina had to face serious health issues that at times forced her to miss entire school years, and perhaps it was then Irina first learned how to persevere and overcome the most difficult challenges in life. Despite all that, Irina graduated from high school with a Gold Medal, the highest distinction given to most advanced and accomplished students. Irina then pursued higher education earning a master's degree in structural engineering. While in school, Irina met and fell in love with her husband, Aleksandr Mikhlin, and gave birth to her beloved daughter, Victoria.
Upon immigrating to United States in early 90s, Irina was ready to embrace the new life and opportunities in America and became a business owner of Continent Deli store in La Jolla, a thriving business, that became a staple among Russian-speaking and eastern-European communities.
Above all, Irina was absolutely devoted to her family with love and caring that had no limits. She was married to her husband, Aleksandr for 41years until his untimely passing in 2019. Even though running her business consumed most of her time, there was no higher priority in Irina's life than spending time with the family either on Jewish Holidays, birthdays, or rare opportunities for family trips. Her family was the joy of her life.
Irina is survived by her brother, Vladimir, beloved daughter Victoria and son-in-law Vasiliy, and four grandchildren, Michael, Mia, Michelle and Mietta.
