Iris will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Earl; her children, Verona Pernell of Ajax, ON, Carlene (Evon) Wisdom of Uxbridge, ON, Hugh (Lisa) Baker of Calgary and Demetrius (Sasha) Baker of Calgary; 12 grandchildren, Tyra, Isabella, Dominique (Seunghun), Brandon, Justin, Ruth, Malcolm, Kendrix, Isaiah, Kaleb, Christian & Laylah; siblings, Beverly Gocan, Ouida Mitchell, Susan Dickson, Hankin Williams, Errol Williams & Marlon (Bobby) Williams; all of her nieces and nephews and their families from Canada, United States and Jamaica. She is predeceased by one son, Ordel; at birth, her twin sister, Mathilda; siblings, Medrick, Lloyd, Hansel, Dennis & Audette.
Iris (Junie) Jerone Williams and her twin sister, Mathilda were the fourth and fifth children born in Ocho Rios to Evadnie and Malcolm Williams. Iris was from a big family and started a family of her own while still in Jamaica. Three of her children, Ordel, Verona and Carlene were born in Jamaica. Then in 1972, she received an invitation letter from her cousin, Roy Geddes to visit Canada. She migrated to Canada landing in Montreal searching for a better life for her and her children. Iris met her future husband, Earl, shortly after arriving and the two were married in July of 1975. The two had their first child together, Hugh in April 1976. In 1979, Earl moved west to Calgary for better opportunities for their family. Iris and the children joined him the following year. Iris returned to school and started working in health care. She often worked two jobs to help make a better life for her family. Iris and Earl welcomed, Demetrius, their second child together in April of 1982.
Iris loved to dance in church, watch her soaps, spend time with family cooking and baking, especially her world famous Christmas cake. Iris dedicated her life to God. She was baptized on December 31, 1999. She continued dancing in church every Sunday. Mobility challenges didn't stop her dancing along with her trusty walker.
Iris will be missed by her daughters, sons, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, 12 grandchildren, surviving brothers and sisters, extended family and friends.
