Iris Briesacher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by White Funeral Home - Farmington on Aug. 27, 2025.
Our beloved mother, Iris Marie Briesacher, left us on Sunday, August 24, 2025, much the same way she lived her life-quietly, peacefully, and surrounded by her family, whom she loved so dearly and well.

Iris was born October 23, 1934, in Lakeville, Minnesota, to Johannes and Lela Meeg-Andersen, the fourth generation to be born on the family farm. She attended one-room schools, where she first met her future husband, Harvey. She graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1952 from Farmington High School.

Harvey and Iris were married December 4, 1954, while Harvey was serving in the Air Force, where she joined him in Oscoda, Michigan. After a brief career at U of M agricultural campus in Rosemount, Iris was a dedicated and involved Mom to her four daughters. With 15 years between the oldest and the youngest, she created a stable and loving home and could always be found on the sofa until everyone was safely home at night.

Iris was very active in the community, serving as a leader in the Girl Scouts, the Community Action Council of Dakota County, the Mobile Meals program, and volunteered for many years at the Clothes Closet in Apple Valley. She and Harvey were very active supporters of Dakota City Heritage Village, where she often gave tours in costume to school groups and during the annual fair.

Her faith in Christ was an important part of Iris's life. She was a member of Farmington Lutheran Church since 1958. She served in numerous areas over the years from nursery to the OWLS (Older Wiser Lutherans) group. She also served for many years in the Stephen Ministry, comprised of lay members trained to provide one-on-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life.

Iris was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years, Harvey; her parents; and her sister, Carol Ackerson, who passed just two weeks before her. She is survived by her daughters Debra Briesacher and husband Randy Carlson, Brenda (Dean) Kurtz, Jill (Dale) Ronning, and Amy (Mark) Ulbricht; six grandchildren: Zachary and Johanna Carlson, Sarah and Colette Kurtz, Madelyn Ronning and Rachel (Christopher) Oliva; one great- granddaughter, Avery Oliva.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Farmington Lutheran Church, 20600 Akin Rd., Farmington. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment: Greenwood Cemetery.

We would like to extend thanks to the Amira Choice and Optage Hospice staff for their loving care of Iris and their support of our family.
