Iris Rose Stephens Edwards 77 of 180 Southwood Drive died on Monday, March 25th, 2024 at Southwood Nursing Center in Clinton.
Iris was born July 28, 1946 in Cumberland County to the late Russell Stephens and Sophia Lee. Iris loved her family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Iris enjoyed filling her days with being outdoors and gardening. Her flowers brought her endless joy. When she wasn't tending to her plants, Iris could often be found listening to gospel music and reading her bible.
Funeral will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Pastor Eddie Smith, officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm, prior to the service within the chapel.
Iris is preceded in death by her parents, Russel and Sophia Stephens; an infant daughter, Angela Cain; her sister, Sylvia Pearsall; her brother, Albert Stephens; and her beloved cat, Sunny.
Those left to cherish the memory of Iris are her four children: Donald Glenn Cain of Arizona, Sandra Cain of Clinton, NC, Vonnie Cain of Maryland, and April Cain of Dunn, NC; husband, Donnie Edwards of Clinton, NC; two brothers: Worth Stephens and David Stephens, both of Roseboro, NC; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
In luie of flowers the family asks that memorials be made towards the funeral expenses at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service & Cremation of Clinton.
