Iris Parrish Hayes, age 97, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at McLeod Seacoast Health Center, Little River, SC. Iris was born on September 26, 1927 in Ashboro, NC to the late Locke Parrish and Beulah Von Cannon Parrish. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; David Franklin Hayes and Daughter; Leanne M. Hayes.

Iris worked for several years as a sales representative for Grief Brothers Shipping Containers. Iris was a gentle soul. She loved people and they loved her. She was a great cook and loved to see everyone enjoying themselves. Being the oldest of eleven children, she didn't know how to cook a small meal. She loved having people visit. She will be missed greatly.

Left to cherish her memory are her son; David Hayes (Savitta) of Wilmington, NC, two sisters; Frankie P. Pelletier of Archdale, NC and Linda P. Styles of Burnsville, NC and a brother; Wayne Parrish of Randleman, NC.

A graveside memorial service at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery, Whiteville, NC, will be held at a time to be announced (please check back for time).

McKenzie Mortuary, 112 Jefferson Street, Whiteville, NC is serving the Hayes family.
