Iris Marie Rockwell, 87, of Waterville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025. She was born June 24, 1937, to Leo Kirk and Catherine Doolittle in Lindley, New York. Iris married Roland Rockwell and together they raised three children in Toledo, Ohio.
Iris loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday School teacher at the neighborhood United Methodist Church.
She worked at the Lion Store for many years, in both the linen and accounting departments. Iris built strong friendships from the Lion Store coworkers that have lasted a lifetime. After working at the Lion Store, she worked for the Red Cross and at the gift shop at Cracker Barrel in Maumee, Ohio.
Iris was a social butterfly between LARKS (Lion Store Assoc. Retirement Klub), the Lion’s Accounting Birthday Group, BFF birthday group and Margaret Hunt Senior Center.
She loved traveling, going to the casino, gardening, and Saturday breakfast with family and longtime friend Ginny Ross.
Iris is survived by her children - Karen Dennis, David (Sarah) Rockwell, and Elizabeth (Robert) Rosenbrook; grandchildren - Brad Rockwell (Molly), Kristen Rockwell, Matthew Rosenbrook (Natalie), Ryan (Tyler) Rosenbrook, Greg Rosenbrook, Bob Rosenbrook; Great grandchildren Audree and Tate Rosenbrook, and brother Donald Kirk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Kirk and Catherine Doolittle, and son-in-law, Greg Dennis.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 8, from 2-8 pm at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave, Toledo, Ohio, 43614. The Funeral will be at 11:00 am, June 9, at Community of Christ Lutheran Church, 6517 Finzel Rd, Whitehouse, Ohio 43511. There will be an additional visitation time from 10:00-10:50 am, prior to the funeral service.
