Irma Arizpe Cano, 65, was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 5, 1958 to Servando and Eloisa Arizpe. She is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Arizpe Berry and her parents. Irma is survived by her sisters, Eloise Guzman and husband Ruben, Blanca McMahon and husband Rick, and Mary Derrick. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, Rudy Cano Jr., Lisa Cano Papadogiannis and fiancé Geoff Sansom, Eric J. Cano, and Ryan B. Cano and wife Kimberly. She was a proud grandmother of Brian R. Pabilic, Maya J. Cano and fiancé Jordan Vasquez, Rylan S. Cano, Brandon G. Herrera, Rory K. Cano, and Mila R. Papadogiannis. Irma was just upgraded to great grandma status on April 1st when Xavious A. Vasquez was welcomed into this world. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews and a host of friends: Myra G. Guzman, Alison R. Kuzilla and husband James, James P. Berry, Daniel R. Berry and husband Steven Dykes.
She especially enjoyed the company of her MacArthur High School Classmates for food and drinks. Irma spent many years in pool leagues, placing in several tournaments. You could always find her propped up in her spot at her bar that she proudly owned for almost two decades. Some of her patrons became a second family to her. She was known for her yummy tamales, menudo, and making Thanksgiving lunch for her family.
Irma went from being a stay at home mom to finding a passion in doing manicures and pedicures. She later found herself moving up in the kitchen at AISD until she retired. After a tragic accident, Irma was able to pursue her dream of owning and operating a local bar. Her Iron Horse Saloon has been one of her greatest accomplishments; she felt extreme gratitude for the many years that those in the neighborhood kept it going.
