Irma J. Darlage

Irma Janet (Krumme) Darlage, 84, passed away at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour on January 20, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Seymour on August 1, 1940, to the late William and Florence (Surenkamp) Krumme.
Irma graduated from Shields High School in 1958. Three years later, on August 20, 1961, she and her sweetheart Robert Darlage became the first couple to be wed at Zion Lutheran Church. They shared 54 wonderful years together until his passing in 2015. A hard worker, Irma held positions at Indiana Telephone Company, Schneck Memorial Hospital, and Jackson County Bank, raised her family and helped Robert on the farm as well. But her greatest ministry was music. Irma was the organist at Zion Lutheran Church and other Lutheran churches for over 60 years, retiring from playing in 2020. She blessed many people with her music. She was involved in Farm Bureau Inc., 4-H, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and many other church committees.
Left behind to cherish Irma's memory are her daughters, Greta (Derek) Achenbach, Kathe (Perry) Preston, and Jill (Andy) Kamman; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kathryn, and Geoffrey Achenbach, Jackie Preston, Shelby (Brandon) Akin, and Kody, Brittney, Samantha, and Elijah Kamman; sisters, Alberta (Delbert) Tormoehlen and Marilyn Meek; sisters-in-law, Patricia Klosterman, Janet Myers, and Karen Darlage; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; her parents, listed above; and brothers-in-law, Walter Darlage, James Darlage, Thomas Darlage, Roger Darlage, Robert Myers, Ralph Meek.
Funeral services for Irma will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 Gaiser Dr, Seymour. Pastor Jeffrey Stuckwisch and Pastor Bradley Akey will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Irma will be laid to rest immediately following at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour.
