Irma Katharina Owens

Irma Katharina Owens, 87, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024.
Born in Ebernburg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Gass and Mathilde Ludes Gass. Irma was a member and past president of the Greenville German-American Club. She was very proud of her American citizenship but never forgot her German heritage. Sharing the food and traditions of her ancestry with family and friends was very important to her. Irma was a proficient seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed working in her yard, traveling, dancing, and anything that included spending time with her family. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and considered them her greatest achievement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Owens; and her companion, Lyell J. Colburn.
Left to cherish Irma's memory are her four children, Ronnie Owens (Mary), Tommy Owens (Julie), Gary Owens (Melody), and Nancy McDonough; eight grandchildren, Melissa Vogt (Ryan), Tiffany Hill (Walker), Ben Owens (Leslie), Christy Ramineni (Praveen), Amy Smith (Travis), Christopher Owens (Callie), Meghan Lineberger (Andy), and Sarah McDonough; and twenty great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate Irma's life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 22, 2024 in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Burial will follow at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral one hour prior to the service.
