Irma Esther Pritchett, of Sherwood, AR and formerly of Glen Rose, TX, passed away March 30, 2025. She was born April 29, 1936 in Cabot, AR, to the late Esther (Nelson) and Houston Hall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollin Pritchett, her parents, a sister, Mary Gill Cannon, and a brother, Dale Harrison Cartmel.
Survivors include two sons: Roger Pritchett (Karen) and Randy Pritchett (Julie Graeff); three grandchildren: David Pritchett (Erynn Smith), Kristy Beamon (Blake), and Julie Longoria (Regie); and three great-grandchildren: Tegan Wilder Smith Pritchett, Cole Timothy Beamon, and Tyler James Beamon; a brother, Dalton Cartmel; and many nieces and nephews.
Irma grew up around Cabot, AR, attending Bayou Meto High School. She met her husband while working in the YMCA coffee shop. They married in 1953 and had 55 wonderful years together.
She was a consummate homemaker. Neat as a pin, she took pride in keeping a clean, organized house, and was an excellent cook and seamstress. She stayed home to raise her boys.
They moved several times for work, but spent significant years in three places: Little Rock; Chandler, AZ; and Glen Rose, TX, making dear friends at each place. After becoming a widow, she returned to her place of origin to be near family.
She became very involved in church life wherever they lived for as long as she was able. Her faith was very important to her. She was active in teaching children’s Bible classes, and helping others get to church, among other activities. She was particularly involved in hospitality, providing meals for many. She loved baking cakes for others. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, most recently the Cabot Church of Christ. She always lived a simple life, choosing to do for others instead of herself. Even when her abilities were limited in her last years, she always wanted to be a servant and helper.
She was a dedicated and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home, with minister Chuck Ball officiating. She will be laid to rest with her late husband in Squaw Creek Cemetery, Glen Rose, TX.
