Darrell Lee Gray October 22, 1929 – February 19, 2026

Darrell Lee Gray was born in Centerville, Arkansas, on October 22, 1929, and passed away on February 19, 2026, at the age of 96.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 5th Armored Division, A Battery, 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War. He completed his service in 1954, leaving the Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Following his military service, Darrell graduated from Ouachita Baptist College with a bachelor’s degree and dedicated his career to the Arkansas Employment Security Division. He managed the offices in Magnolia and later Monticello until his retirement. In 2016, he and Joyce moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

A devoted Christian, Darrell was a member of First Baptist Church of Sherwood. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Levi and Dura Johnson Gray; his brother, Loyd Albert Gray; his sister, Doris McDaniel; his beloved wife of 73 years, Melva Joyce (Waldrup) Gray; his sons, Chris Gray and Jay Gray; and his granddaughter, Sydney Gray.

He is survived by his daughter, Katha Gray; his son, Andy Gray, and wife Tammy; and his granddaughters Katherine (Gray) Mosby, Kristie (Gray) Thompson, Kyrstin Gray, and Katrina Gray, along with several great grandchildren who brought him great joy.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:21

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff and friends at Fox Ridge in North Little Rock for the care, support, and kindness shown to their father during his time there.
