Ellis A. Gray Jr.

Ellis A. Gray, Jr., a resident of Live Oak, FL, passed away on February 19, 2026 in the loving care of the VA hospice nurses, with his family at his side. Born on February 21, 1937, in Avon, NC, to the late Ellis A. and Caroline Gray, he was one of five children, and moved to Live Oak over 33 years ago from his birthplace. Ellis proudly served his country as a member of the US Coast Guard, was a Veteran of both Vietnam and the Korean Conflict, and retired after over 23 years of service.

Ellis is survived by his daughter, Pamela J. Gray (Chuck) of Windsor, NC; his sons, Ellis A. Gray, III (Patty) of Live Oak, FL, and Anthony D. Gray (Diane) of North Waterboro, ME. He also leaves behind a sister, Cheryl McDonald, Suffolk, VA, eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary L. Gary, and his siblings: Elizabeth Gaskins, Mary L. Gray, and John D. Gray.

Private family services were held Monday, February 23rd at Live Oak Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Chuck Gray.
