Irma Lou "Mimi" Taylor

At age 91, Irma Lou "Mimi" Taylor passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023. Irma was born in Huntsville, Arkansas on July 20, 1932 to Authur Chester and Alice Celeste Gregory. After graduating from Slaton High School in 1949, she married her high school sweetheart Glen Scroggins. While Glen worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, Irma was busy being a homemaker and mother raising their two children Mike and Sue. After Glen passed away in 1961, Irma began her higher education by attending West Texas State University. Upon her completion of a B.S. in Elementary Education, Irma started her career as an elementary school teacher. In 1966 Irma married Tom MacOwan, one of her professors from WTSU. Irma retired from teaching elementary school children after 21 years of service. Before Tom passed away in 1997, Irma and Tom enjoyed traveling. Irma is presently married to Harold Taylor Jr., having a December 31, 1999 wedding being married 23 years.
Irma's sister-in-law once said, "Most women hope to marry one good man and Irma has married three good men!"
Irma was preceded in death by her parents Authur and Alice Gregory, brothers Jack and Tom Gregory, 1st husband Glen Scroggins and 2nd husband Tom MacOwan. She is survived by her 3rd husband Harold Taylor Jr.; children, Mike Scroggins (Cindy) and Sue Erwin (David); five grandchildren, Elise May (Greg), Tyson Erwin (Kendra), Kelsey Groome (Worth), Berkley Knas (Kyle), Charles Erwin (Tommie); twelve great-grandchildren Cauy Roe, Ezra Erwin, Cade Erwin, Tinsley Erwin, Bailey Erwin, Alexa Erwin, Sawyer Knas, Avia Erwin, Bebe Knas, Joel Erwin, Lane Groome, Millie Groome.
Memorial Services will be at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 28th, 2023. A special thank you goes to Brenda Christy and all the caregivers at Care Cottage. Much appreciation and gratitude goes to Gentiva Hospice who surrounded Irma with peace and comfort.
