Janie Sue Venable

Janie Sue Venable, 77, of Dumas, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2026. 

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 13, 2026 at New Beginnings Baptist Church, 625 Powell Ave. with Johnny Widener officiating. Burial will be at the Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Janie was born on May 18, 1948 in Happy, Texas to O.J. Roberts and Mary McDuff Roberts. She grew up in Dumas. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed coloring, crafting, camping, and spending time with family.

She married Larry Venable on August 14, 1965 in Dumas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Venable; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Farni; a grandson Trey Tipton; a brother, Gary Roberts; and two nephews, Jimmy Byron and Michael McCaskill

She is survived by a son, David Venable of Dumas; daughter, Michelle Mahaffee and husband Bob of Spearman; a brother, Tom Roberts and wife Leslie; grandchildren, Shasta Jones and husband Bubba, Sabra Henry and husband Kasey, Savannah Rhoades and husband Austin, Natalie Mahaffee and fiancé Christopher Hill, Tandon Tipton, Tyler Tipton; 7 great grandchildren, Zackry Grice, Zaelee Jones, Kyler and Kyndle Henry, Creed and Gauge Rhoades; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to the Moore County Senior Citizens, 701 E. 16th St., Dumas, Texas 79029
