Gary Dean Byrd, 78, of Dumas, died on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church with Mike Watson officiating. Calvary Baptist Church will be providing a lunch for family and close friends at noon. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 500 N. Maddox.
Gary was born on January 26, 1947 in Dumas to Roy Earl and Natalia E. Byrd. He graduated from Dumas High School and attended West Texas State University. He had worked for Gene Cline Parts, A&I Parts, Napa Parts, and the parts department at the Sunray Coop. He loved to water ski and slalom. He enjoyed working on cars, playing pool, and dancing.
Gary is survived by three daughters, Sandy Deneke and husband Don Yeandle of Grandview, Latana Byrd and fiancé Andrew Duarte of Kannapolis, NC., Connie Byrd Belbeck and husband Joe of Missouri; grandchildren, Chyenne, Tason, Taislee, Tidus and Connie’s Children; a brother, Larry Byrd and Mary Ann; five sisters, Patricia Smith, Fern Page, Carolyn “Cacka” McGee, Gloria “Goey” Adams, and Rhodora “Dodo” Alberty.
