Irvalene Delores Hashagen, 81, passed away Saturday at the Mennonite Home in Albany. Irvalene was born in Ottawa, Kansas. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1948 and then attended Stephens College of Columbia, MO. and graduated with a degree in Clothing and Interior-decorating. She worked in the family-owned hardware store in Kansas for over 20 years, moving to Albany, OR in 1970. Irvalene had a passion for cooking and spent many hours collecting and trying new recipes. She also loved working with crafts and home décor and spent many enjoyable hours gardening and watching the birds in her yard. She loved Christmas and any occasion for family gatherings; her family was her greatest joy in life and she devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irvalene had a life-long interest in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and was an active volunteer. Survivors include her husband, Clyde E. Hashagen of Albany, her four children, Jill Ann Meyer of Albany, Ken Alan Hashagen of Portland, Judy Linn Linares of Davie, FL, Keith Lee Hashagen of Albany, four granddaughters, Stephanie Kay Rethlefsen, Patricia Rose and Jessica Linn Linares, Cassandra Rose Kaler; five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by parents, Irvin and Helen Malott, and brother Kenneth, who served in World War II as a Navy pilot. Irvalene touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity and good humor. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mennonite Home caregivers. A memorial service will be at 1:00pm, Friday, March 2 at Fisher Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the wonderful people who gave such wonderful care for Irvalene in her time of need at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice; or the Salvation Army of Albany, in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. SW, Albany, OR 97321.
