Irvin was born in Rockingham County to the late Wiley and Inez Lee. He grew up in Reidsville, North Carolina and was a highschool graduate from Booker T Washington High School in 1965. For many years, Irvin worked two full time jobs. He worked at Annie Penn Hospital, ultimately progressing his career to performing autopsies. He also worked and retired from Lorillard, now ITG, after 47 years of service. His coworkers didn’t call him Irvin. Instead, they called him MAGIC because of his ability to play basketball. He even played basketball with the Lorillard team. After retirement, he found joy in Reidsville High School Athletics. He never missed a football or basketball game, often traveling with the basketball team game to game. Along with his love of sports, he loved his family and he loved people. Irvin never met a stranger. He had a love of taking care of others, often sitting with the elderly. He loved raising his children and grandchildren and supported them in all of their endeavors. Most of all, his greatest love was his great granddaughter, Reagan Grace Farmer.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Lee; sister, Carolyn Lee; brothers, Jimmy Lee, and Willie Wiley Lee Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Polly Lee; daughter, Pamela Lee Oates (Jeff); grandchildren, Eboni Farmer (Josh), and Emoni Wiley; great grandchild, Reagan Farmer; special nephew, Ricky Smith; sister, Beverly Harris along with a large and loving group of nieces, nephews and extended family.
