IRWIN BROIDA

BROIDA--Irwin, age 93, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Before moving to the Four Seasons Community in Wayne, NJ with his wife, Arline, they raised their two children, Mark and Lisa, in Westbury, NY and Ridgewood, NJ. Irwin graduated from Cornell University in 1952 with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from New York University Graduate School of Business in 1963. Irwin served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1954-1956. Before retiring he worked for Trane Co. and Ingersoll Rand. He served as President of the Mates Family Society for many years. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Cornell 1952 Class Council, Cornell 1865 Donor Society and Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity. He enjoyed tutoring ESL adults for Literacy Volunteers of America. Irwin was married to his Cornell sweetheart, Arline (Braverman) for 69 years. They enjoyed traveling and visited villages, cities, ancient ruins, mountains, glaciers, deserts, safaris, rain forests, rivers and seas in all seven continents. Most of all he treasured spending time with his family and took great pride in their accomplishments. He was predeceased by his son, Mark, and survived by his loving wife, Arline, devoted children Lisa and husband Michael Josephson, daughter-in-law Karen and adoring grandchildren, Teddi Anne and David Josephson, as well as loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He loved and was loved and will be profoundly missed and remembered forever by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Irwin may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
