Isabel Siegel Obituary

Published by Hellman Memorial Chapels - Spring Valley on Jan. 24, 2005.
Isabel Siegel, the widow of Alan Siegel and beloved mother to her three children: Richard Siegel, Lawrence Siegel and Andrea Rose, passed in her sleep January 21, 2005. She was 69 years old.

In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a son-in-law, William, and daughter-in-law, Debra, as well as four loving granddaughters: Alyssa, Cindy, Rachel and Abby.

A family statement reads: "Isabel bravely fought through several illnesses, including a stroke and a heart attack, before succumbing to an aneurysm. She will be sadly missed by family and friends in New York, California and in her native Scotland. She left Scotland while still a teenager and came to America with her older sister, Mary. They were the last wave of great European immigrants seeking a better life for her self and her children. For the courage it took to make that move alone, we will forever be in her debt. And for the deep, deep love she showed all of us, she will forever be in our hearts."

Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM at Hellman Memorial Chapel, 15 State St., Spring Valley, NY 10977.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Isabel's name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or [email protected]

Warm Summer Sun

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.

Dearest Aunt Isabel...
I'd have written you on the 21st but i was busy preparing Catherine(mom in law) a place in Heaven with you & My Mom Mary...You,Mommy & Catherine now share a "place" among the angels and saints. 3 Scottish women sharing tales, stories and memories that the others missed. May you all sprinkle a lil miracle or 2 upon those here so we know you are all together and at peace. I learned this year that the stars above are merely tiny holes in the floor of Heaven so that our loved ones can peek down upon us..I love you as I loved you then...Be At Peace Isabel and make the sun shine for us to know you are all okay...Goodnight and God Bless YouJackie, Alan, Pat, Cathy & Mary...

Its been a year and still it feels like she just left us...I remember her everyday in thoughts n prayer. I miss her as i do my mom but knowing theyre together n always watching over those dear to them we all can be proud of our MOMS and the heritage theyve given to us. Let us all go forth n pass on their legacies to our children "our family" so that Isabel will always "Just be away" n never ever gone from our hearts. Lifes short..drop misgivings, forget the sad times, the mad times as well..celebrate her life within your own and do what she would do...Goodnight and G-D bless you Aunt Isabel...my Aunt my "Mom" my friend.....

To Isabel, May 19,2005

My parents and I were fortunate to have Isabel as our next door neighbor in an apartment complex we lived in almost 40 years ago. From the time she introduced herself, we knew we were livng next door to someone special. Needless to say, we were heartbroken when the Siegel's moved away. Isabel promised to keep in touch every New Year's Eve at 7p.m. with a phone call to us. That is when the new year started in her home country of Scotland. For 40 years she kept her promise to us, and now Isabel, it is our turn to remember you every New Year's Eve at 7p.m and on Jan. 21st. You will be in our thoughts. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten. Your daughter, Andrea is heartbroken over your loss and I can understand why. She has lost a very special person. May you rest in peace.

Always in our thoughts,

Eileen Murphy & family.

"For My Mother"

How lovingly my heart recalls the times you've lent a hand, and all those special times when you've been there to understand.

My heart remembers all the times you've done more than your share when I've needed loving guidance and someone to really care.

My heart remembers the special love you gave me that will never be replaced.

My heart remembers you were my best friend.

I'll miss you and love you forever.

Your loving daughter,Andrea

Dear Ma,

Aunt Helen sent a card today-

The Rose Beyond the Wall

A rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall, and as the days passed swiftly by,it spread its branches, straight and tall...

One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice that had opened wide -

The rose bent gently toward its warmth then passed beyond to the other side...

Now you who deeply feel its loss, be comforted -

the rose blooms there -

Its beauty even greater now,

nurtured by God's own loving care

I love you and miss you so much,

Andrea

I was so very sorry to hear of the death of Isabel. My family met her years ago. She became good friends with my mom Toni. They frequented bingo and shopping together. After we lost our mom 6 years ago, Isabel remained a true friend to all of us. We kept in contact regularly. She truely was a good friend to the family. She also went with us to my brother Joe's wedding in Brooklyn. We went the day before and stayed at the Staten island Hotel. I think that she knew then that she was like family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. I recently asked her for help with my son's homework that involved the currency of other countries. She was more than happy to share the information on her homeland Scotland. I pray for her family . May they find peace in knowing that she is safe in God's arms. May they know that others are praying for them. I thank you Isabel for all of the wonderful times together. We will truely miss you. Please give mom a kiss for us. K. Graham and family
